A KKT Conditions Based Transceiver Optimization Framework for RIS-Aided Multiuser MIMO Networks

In many core problems of signal processing and wireless communications, Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions based optimization plays a fundamental role. Hence we investigate the KKT in context optimizing positive semidefinite matrix variables under nonconvex rank constraints. More explicitly, on properties conditions, optimize reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) aided multi-user multi-input multi-output (MU-MIMO) network. Specifically, consider capacity maximization sum mean square error (MSE) minimization both RIS-aided MU-MIMO uplink (UL) downlink (DL) multiple weighted power constraints As for UL, optimal structures covariance matrices are derived conditions. Furthermore, an efficient procedure is designed solving problems. Then UL-DL dualities exploited MSE DL results UL optimization. proposed framework, phase shifting RIS jointly optimized with DL. Our simulation demonstrate performance advantages framework.
